I went to the Artboy gallery in Prahran on the weekend to have a look at the Fanboy vs. Artboy exhibition. The artist that stood out the most to me was Heesco. He created his version of Batman and his enemies beautifully. Even though they were at the back of the gallery, his work captured my interest straight away. So dark, so menacing, so exactly how I think Batman should be depicted.

I could handle having this as my holiday house. Well let’s face it, I would happily move to Rio de Janeiro for this amazing piece of architecture . There are no hallways. Completely open planned living so the winds from the sea supply the natural cooling. Has made me feel quite warm on a cold Melbourne day!

So I have been thinking about this a bit lately. What is the difference between fine art and illustration. And who says what is what? You can go to the dictionary and get a clear, concise black and white answer, but is that easy anymore? I don’t think so. I think there is a very fine line (if any) and that is blending together quite well. I love seeing work that is a combination and inspiration of all different media and style. Whether that be illustration, digital art, fine art, whatever.
It’s an interesting topic for me at the moment. I feel it’s all art and it’s really about how you personally interpret it. What’s bad to me I’m sure other people may find brilliant and vice versa. Isn’t that what it’s all about? Doing what you love and being inspired and passionate and that coming out in whatever form you like.
So I say go out and create art and don’t pigeon hole it into anything. Just enjoy it.

Obviously this was not created by Banksy but still definitely worth a mention for it’s cheekiness.

How lovely is Raphael Vicenzi’s work? So pretty. The colours are beautiful. This particular image took my breathe away and a tear to my eye. And also gave me a slight case of jealousy! Definitely recommend going to his behance page and checking out his work. It’s a lovely journey to go on.
Check out his work here.
